What it is
The field day, reinvented
Surveyors typically rely on reference points to achieve the most accurate measurements. Traditional field days involve setting up expensive, heavy, and fragile equipment, then dismantling and relocating it to new reference points. The process is time consuming and costly — exacerbated by the current shortage of surveyors in the country.
Instead of transporting bulky equipment in large trucks, a single drone can perform the job efficiently, minimizing the number of survey points required to be geolocated.
Modern drones adapt to various tasks by adding or removing payloads as needed — high-resolution visual cameras, LiDAR, and Post-Processed Kinematic (PPK) / Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) modules — so one aircraft covers work that once demanded several crews and setups.
