Overview
Gedeon GRC Consulting provided full professional structural engineering and construction administration services for the design of a new 53,000-square-foot, six-story residential building with a cellar, located at the corner of Park and Throop avenues in Brooklyn, NY. Working with Monica Lopez Architects, Gedeon GRC helped deliver new affordable housing for the community on a site adjacent to Woodhull Medical Hospital.
Scope of services
The scope included structural analysis and design of the building and canopy structures, and production of construction documents and specifications. Special attention was given to the foundations, which vary from 2 feet to 15 feet below the slabs-on-grade depending on the location within the building.
Construction administration
During the construction administration phase, responsibilities included responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and visiting the site to observe the progress of construction.
