Overview

Gedeon GRC Consulting is contributing engineering expertise to the Manhattan Tunnel Project, a pivotal segment of the larger Hudson Tunnel Project. This high-impact infrastructure effort is designed to enhance regional connectivity by linking HYCC-3 to the Hudson River tunnel through twin tunnels beneath 12th Avenue. A key feature of the project is a massive access shaft engineered to retrieve tunnel boring machines — a measure of the scale and complexity of the work.

Scope of services

As part of the Design-Build team, Gedeon GRC is delivering comprehensive engineering services across multiple disciplines:

  • Utilities, drainage & site work
  • Traffic signals, signage & pavement markings
  • Roadway pavement & restoration
  • Maintenance & Protection of Traffic (MPT)
  • Lighting & safety systems

These services are critical to ensuring safe, efficient and minimally disruptive construction in a dense urban environment, with precision design and coordination applied to meet aggressive timelines while maintaining public safety throughout the build.

Progress

Construction commenced in early 2025 and is advancing rapidly. As of September 5, 2025, the site reflects significant progress, with active excavation and infrastructure installation underway — a pace that highlights the effectiveness of the Design-Build delivery model and the collaboration among project stakeholders. Gedeon GRC remains committed to supporting the delivery of this transformative project, contributing engineering solutions that will serve New York’s transit infrastructure for decades to come.
