Overview
As a sub-consultant, Gedeon GRC Consulting provided construction inspection services for the replacement of the City Island Bridge over Eastchester Bay in the Bronx. The project involved construction of a temporary bridge on the south side of the existing bridge to maintain traffic during construction of the new bridge.
Roadway improvements
Inspection covered roadway improvements including landscaping; street and channel lighting; ramp installation; curb construction; water mains; drainage systems; utilities relocation; bike lanes; pedestrian fence and guide rails; Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT); and agency coordination.
Bridge rehabilitation & reconstruction
Bridge work included bridge inspection; temporary bridge installation; bridge cleaning and painting; steel stringer superstructure repairs; repair or replacement of asphalt concrete and/or tie-back or tie-down systems; bridge decks; joints; bearings; sidewalks; railing; fencing; scuppers; stone re-pointing; and asbestos removal.
